I live in a council house & people think we have it easy but these are the problems tenants like us face daily | The Sun

THERE are tonnes of misconceptions made about people that live in council houses.

One of which is that such tenants "have it easy".

However, one woman has taken to TikTok to hit back at the assumptions people make about her, insisting that she has to sort all the issues in her home out herself.

"Tell me you live in a council house without telling me," she began.

She then showed her "uneven walls", "cupboard doors that won’t open" and her "garden wall falling down".

There was also the "classic strip light" in her kitchen, which she luckily "removed it and replaced".

The lights she chose in the strip light's place were much more chic - industrial-style wire bulb cases.

And lastly she slammed the "walls that are barely plastered".

"But yeah, everyone thinks we have it so easy - we don’t!" she concluded.

In the caption for the TikTok video, she added: "We don’t get everything free like everyone thinks and all these things will be fixed with money I earn not from me reporting it to the council to get it done free!"

Lots of people taking to the comments section were also council house tenants, who admitted the woman's video rang true for them as well.

"I paid my brother £200 to skim my staircase lol I couldn’t cope any longer with the uneven walls," one wrote.

To which the poster replied: "Hahaha. I swear every council house has uneven walls somewhere."

"We've just moved into a council flat n started decorating n literally have the same as in this vid!" another added.

"I'm proud of our home council or not."

And the woman responded: "Me toooo.

"Absolutely love my home and I really enjoy fixing all these issues myself."
