A clever digital artist created this reimagined classic Monte Carlo for the modern age, featuring a wide body, custom LED lights, and cool new aero.

Arguably one of the most fun things to do with car renderings is taking a well-established or classic model and giving it a new lease of life with a makeover.

Sometimes this involves changing a few select areas resulting in a mild modification, and sometimes it means a complete cosmetic change.

This render from @personalizatuauto on Instagram pushes a Chevrolet Monte Carlo to the limit while retaining enough of the original design to identify it at a glance.

What better for a low-riding, widebody makeover than for the long, opulent and lovably-retro Monte Carlo – we take a quick walkaround journey of this crazy custom Chevy.

Finished in a shocking scarlet, this early generation Monte Carlo is wide, with custom panels over the whole thing and gold, 10-spoke alloys occupying the enlarged wheel arches under a body that sits very low.

Yellow racing stripes with silver backing drape the body from hood to rear, and up front, the car is unmistakably a Chevy Monte Carlo, even with its custom LED lights, chin spoiler and hood ducts.

The three-box sedan style body is wide and sleek with angular panels that serve as an antidote to bulbous SUV design – up back things are drastically different, too.

An aero piece that, we assume, is for additional downforce is hanging below the trunk but above the double-exit exhaust and the rear lights are tasteful LED custom units, mimicking the design of the early Monte Carlo lights.

Speaking of downforce, the rear spoiler is a restrained lip, a nice piece of design that works well with the style of the rest of the car – we’re glad the artist decided to keep things a little pared-back, relatively speaking, by not sticking on a huge wing.

In its heyday – which was from the 70s onwards, the Monte Carlo was V8 powered and what it lacked in performance it made up for in style.

This widebody 2022 Chevrolet Monte Carlo can now benefit from all the technological options available in the 21st century, including engines like the Hellcat Redeye – now that’s something we could see under the hood of this render.

With 797 hp and a modern eight-speed automatic transmission, all this car would then need, is a pair of slicks and a membership at the local raceway.
