According to its listed brokerage firm, a house in Texas became popular this year because of its striking resemblance to the Darth Vader helmet sold last Friday. However, the identity of the new owners and the price they paid for this unusual-looking property are kept secret.

The 7,040-square-foot apartment in Houston — not a distant galaxy — caused a sensation when it went on sale for $4.3 million in the spring. It’s worth noting that it landed on the popular @zillowgonewild Instagram account in May, where the 10 photo slideshows showing its space age interiors received nearly 37,000 likes-and included "I swear, this is the way to "The Gateway to Another Universe" and other comments. And "I'm pretty sure this is where Lex Luthor lives."

In fact, a plastic surgeon named Jean Cukier-who reportedly avoided any media coverage or visits to the 3201 University Boulevard property-called this his home. Cukier built it in 1992, but Darth Vader's helmet was not his source of inspiration. Instead, his goal is to build a "dark and mysterious" nest inspired by aviation.

"He likes the F-111 stealth fighter," Randy Hickey, one of the architects who designed the octagonal expansion, told the Texas Monthly. "He saw a picture of it, and he said,'This is what I want.' Since then, it has been growing, growing and growing."

The design of "Star Wars" has caused some controversy in the area. West University Plaza is a city in Houston with its own building and permitting rules.

"[The community] has become accustomed to a certain identity, and the house of Jean is far from what they can identify," Nadia Karen, one of the Sotheby’s international real estate agents representing Martha Turner Tell the local media. "And they worry about the value of their property."

Since then, this home has become an attractive place, especially among fans of Star Wars. Recently listed for $3.09 million, Carron has been busy dealing with requests from potential buyers and less serious customers. They just want to look inside. But in order to prevent the latter, the brokerage company needs proof of funds to visit the listing.

But the property took three price cuts before it was sold. It first reduced the asking price to US$3.95 million in July, then to US$3.5 million in August, and then settled to US$3.09 million in September.

Inside its dark and angular exterior, there is a sinking conversation pit decorated with blue LED strip lights and water features. Two 1980s-looking staircases lead to a platform on one side, which will bring the new owner to the rest of the living room, including additional lounge space and dining table space.

This four- and five-bedroom residence also has concrete and stone floors, and a kitchen with jagged edges and hand-carved stone counters. There are also oversized windows that allow plenty of light despite the inadvertent atmosphere of a dark lord — there is also a home office space that Cukier uses as a music studio. The master bedroom has two large closets, while the garage has space for four cars.

"People fly over to see this property," Carron, who shares the property with Wade Knight, told real estate agents in June. "We have a lot of agents and a lot of'Star Wars' fans. It surprised us to see how many people are attracted to this house because of its similarity."
