The segment is currently dominated by Creta and Seltos and the Toyota-Maruti partnership has spawned its first product in the segment to challenge that Korean dominance. In terms of specifications, the Seltos comes with every conceivable powertrain, while the Hyryder comes with two petrol hybrid engines and no diesel engine. In a segment first, there is an option of choosing between a 2WD or an AWD setup which lends the Hyryder some off-roading capabilities. There is no option for 4WD in Seltos.
