MG Hector facelift interior revealed: New dash gets 14-inch touchscreen, 7-inch digital cluster

MG Motor India has released first images of the Hector facelift, showcasing its all-new layered dashboard design that sports a faux leatherette finish, new AC vents, ambient lighting strips and most importantly, a 14-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system with the latest iteration of i-Smart connected car tech. The updated Hector will also feature a redesigned centre console with an aircraft-inspired gear selector and various physical switches (to control parking sensors, front seat ventilation and traction modes etc.) as well as a dual tone Oak White and black interior colour scheme with brushed metal inserts on the centre console and door cards. The Hector facelift will also come with a configurable, 7.0-inch digital instrument display offering multiple display setups to choose from.

The carmaker had previously also teased front-end styling of the midsize SUV, which will come with a larger and wider grille that extends as far as the LED daytime running lights (DRLs) on the top and sports a new diamond mesh pattern. The front bumpers are also going to be reprofiled and it will feature a new faux skid plate design.

Under the hood, the new Hector is expected to carry forward the same engine options as the current model. Hence, it will come with both the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines (standard and mild-hybrid versions) making 143 hp and 250 Nm along with the Stellantis-sourced 2.0-litre turbo-diesel making 170 hp and 350 Nm. Gearbox options which will also be carried forward as is, with both engines getting a choice of manual and automatic units.

Once launched, the new MG Hector facelift will continue to compete with the likes of the Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV700 and Hyundai Alcazar.
