With 536 hp of power and 1120 lb-ft torque, this Charge 67’ Mustang restomod is going to redefine how we look at electric muscle cars.

Looking stunning and intimidating, Charge Cars is going to make a lot of noise at this year’s Petersen Automotive Museum when they officially launch it for the American market. The British brand is based out of London and will limit the production of this breathtaking Charge 67, based on the first-gen Ford Mustang, to 499 units only, so add this to your favorite 2022 Electric Cars list.

The company is full of highly experienced engineers, so you can rest assured the engineering is near flawless for this all-electric classic Ford. It might feel weird that an American is being wholly built in London, but then they have done a marvelous job. As opposed to its inspiration the 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback, the Charge 67 has an AWD setup to give it instant acceleration from a standstill to a limited top speed of 150 mph.

Touching an expected (and exorbitant) $450,000 this thing is really, really expensive, especially when you consider this amount will fetch you almost two of the original 1967 Ford Mustang Fastbacks today. A mixed reaction on this all around isn’t it?!

The first and foremost advantage you get with electric vehicles is the absolutely insane amount of torque available from zero revs. The Charge 67 has 1120 lb-ft of torque which is delivered to four individual 100kW permanent-magnet brushless AC e-motors.

Then there is the high-tech 4iWD system which keeps all that power under check by receiving unadulterated AC power from the four 100 kW traction inverters. The result will be skull-crushing acceleration and dynamic handling prowess which will be in contrast to what the original 1967 Ford Mustang could ever provide.

But again purists will start waving their fists in the air chanting witchcraft. The entire point of the bare-bones muscle car was to punish tires through the corners. Don’t worry; we’re sure Charge cars will allow you to turn the electronic aids off to have some electrifying fun.

It may not be able to match the evocative soundtrack of a V8 gurgling, but these new electric motors have a space-age whine which will soon become the sound of the future of transport.

Did we mention that it has the officially licensed body shell from Ford themselves, how genuine do you want? Charge engineers have worked their fingers to the bone to keep the design so close to the original 1967 Ford Mustang that you almost forget there is a 2022 Ford Mustang GT Fastback at all.

The Charge 67 redefines the way a modern Mustang is supposed to be designed back to its original creators. And it’s not like it is made of steel and wood, the Charge 67 is made using cutting-edge lightweight composite panels and a splattering of modern technological advancements.

The interior too is highly customizable and Charge Cars themselves are inviting all their customers to visit the facility and place their required customization requests. The company claims no two Charge 67 units will be similar. All the 499 will be different and built according to the preferences of their respective buyers.

We are also a fan of the diverse bespoke experience that Charge Cars is offering to its customers. Right from a range of external paint finishes to grain leather and Alcantara options inside, the high-quality choices make the Charge 67 worth all that money they’re asking for.

If you just glance at it, it looks like a classic equipped one, unless you look at the price tag. Neatly tucked away under that beautiful exterior is a vast array of technological advancements from the technology partner Arrival. This includes critical hardware like the batteries and motors all paired with software components from Charge.

Driver assistance systems including anti-lock brakes, traction control, stability control, and vehicle hold features have been designed specifically for the enormous amounts of torque generated by this monster. It is not just a drag strip toy, by the way, convenience features like adaptive cruise control, lane departure warnings, and automatic emergency brakes point towards its practical use as well.

The LED headlamps definitely look like Swarovski designed them. A specific feature that is absolutely a luxurious premium jewel is soft close doors for sure, and Charge has paired NFC tech for the door handles to add more drama. Obviously, the central console is dominated by a smart and connected touch-screen that handles most of the functions of the vehicle but isn’t everything these days.

However, the 8 flax cone speaker system should keep things interesting to immerse you in classic rock while you demolish supercars with a wriggle of your toe. Yes, this thing is absolutely what the world needs right now, classic design in the careful safekeeping of modern technology to keep you in touch with the days gone while propelling you toward the future.
