The freshly brewed 2023 Genesis G90 luxury sedan is ready to take on its Japanese counterpart, the Lexus LS. Below we see how both these sedans fare.

The luxury car market is dominated by European automobile giants like Mercedes-Benz, Rolls-Royce, Volvo, and others. However, in the last decade, they have hardly brought anything new to the table, and hence, they have started to look weaker in front of Asian luxury cars. Businesses like Lexus, Genesis, and others are trending in the market due to their affordable, reliable, and stylish luxury cars.

Genesis, the luxury arm of Hyundai, is one of the best luxury car companies in the US. They have recently launched the second-generation G90, and we must say, it looks elegant inside and out. On the other hand, Lexus, Toyota’s luxury division, has single-handedly dominated the Germans with modern styling and higher value. The Lexus LS is a great rival to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the BMW 7-Series.

The question is, how does the Lexus LS stack up to the Genesis G90? Let’s find out.

The mild hybrid produces 409 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque, allowing the G90 to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. It offers 17 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highways. With a 19.2-gallon fuel tank inside, the G90 can last more than 500 miles on the highway.

The twin-turbocharged V6 unit makes an impressive 416 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque, propelling the car from 0-60 mph in just 4.6 seconds. The twin-turbo unit returns 19 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway.

The 3.5-liter mild-hybrid V6 engine makes 354 horses and 257 lb-ft of torque. Lexus claims the LS 500h can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds and offers impressive mileage with 25 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway. The LS 500 models feature a 10-speed automatic gearbox, but the hybrid variants sport a CVT gearbox for better mileage. The LS 500h also features a massive 22.2-gallon fuel tank, translating to an excellent highway range of around 732 miles.

The Genesis G90 looks posh from every angle. Genesis calls the G90’s design language "Athletic Elegance," and we strongly agree with this lofty name. The new duel-strip LED lights and the redesigned signature crest-styled grille deliver a magnificent look. Once you step aside, you’ll find things more attractive. The large wheelbase and the new premium alloys give it a rich character. All in all, the G90 has a superb outlook with an amazing road presence.

The Lexus LS, however, maintains a pinpoint balance between being sporty and luxurious. The fascia looks sleek with the signature headlamp unit and the iconic spindle grille. The F-Sport trims are sportier with a sharper black grille, black headlights, a sharper front apron, and larger black rims. The rear gets a wide Y-shaped taillamp along with two shiny exhausts below. In addition, the wide range of 19-and 20-inch alloy wheels allows buyers more customization options.
