With the Hyundai Venue receiving a mid-life refresh, it’s time to pit it against its distant sibling, the Kia Sonet. Though these cars may share some parts and powertrains, there’s a whole lot more that separates the two. Let’s take a look at 5 ways in which the Hyundai Venue facelift trumps the Kia Sonet:

Though the Kia Sonet looks good in its own right, the 2022 Venue looks fresher due to being a newer design.  The older grille has been replaced by a square parametric grille which is finished in chrome. The LED projector headlamps are placed on the lower part of the bumper just like before with the LED DRLs integrated into them. The turn indicators now get a split design. The side doesn’t see any major changes except the new 16-inch alloy wheels. The rear gets a completely new look thanks to the horizontal LED taillights which are connected by a thin LED strip.

Both the cars offer their own unique set of features. The Kia Sonet offers ventilated seats, a Bose sound system, a larger touchscreen, and front parking sensors. However, the Venue offers much more unique features such as 4 way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, puddle lamps, 2-step recline rear seat, valet mode, 60+ connected car features, 12 regional languages support, Home to Car with Alexa and Google Voice Assistant, sounds of nature and a valet mode. The Venue offers all these features over the Sonet while still being cheaper.

The Hyundai Venue offers much more comfort to the rear-seat passengers.  Firstly, it gets a 2-step recline function which is a first in the segment. This means that the rear passengers can also get a comfortable seating position for those long journeys. The 60:40 split configuration also ensures that different passengers can enjoy varying levels of recline depending on their needs. It also gets rear A/C vents with dual C-type charging ports for quicker phone charging. If the previous iteration of the Venue is anything to go by, it offers a better ride quality when compared to the Sonet which gets a stiff suspension.

The Hyundai Venue is much cheaper than the Kia Sonet when compared variant to variant. For example, the top-end Venue SX(O) iMT is priced at ₹11.92 lakhs as opposed to the Kia Sonet GTX+ iMT which is priced at ₹12.45 lakh. Similarly, the top-end Venue and Sonet diesel are priced at ₹12.32 lakh and ₹12.85 lakh respectively. This means that the Venue facelift will save you around ₹50000 depending on the variant.

Since Kia is a much newer brand, its service and dealership network is much smaller when compared to Hyundai. This means that it will be much easier to get your Hyundai Venue serviced. Additionally, Hyundai’s presence in smaller towns is much more than Kia which also makes the Venue more accessible to buy.
